Brilliant Brampton Strike Twice at Quicksticks Hockey Tournament

The Hunts School Sports Partnership’s Year 5/6 Quicksticks Hockey competition and festival returned to the spring term for 2022/23. After the extreme heat and lack of shade at the 2021/22 event which took place in the summer term the hockey event was moved back to its ‘natural’ time of the year.
38 Teams from 18 schools descended on One Leisure St Ives Outdoor Centre on Tuesday 28th February to participate in and A/B team competition and/or the C team festival. The sand-based Astro was a buzz of energy with almost 200 children playing matches across 8 mini pitches.
The schools attending the A/B team events were split into two tournaments with 16 teams in each.
In total 80 matches took place, starting with group stages and progressing to placing matches against equally placed teams from a different group.
Congratulations to the following schools who finished in the top three positions in each event.

Thank you to our Sports Leaders from Hinchingbrooke School and St Ivo Academy who refereed and organised fun hockey challenges throughout the afternoon. Doug Finlayson, HSSP manager said, “The Sports Leaders were Phenomenal today, the weather was against us throughout the event, and I couldn’t have asked for more commitment and enthusiasm. They were fantastic with the younger children, building rapport with the teams on their pitch and were confident with their refereeing decisions”.
