Bushmead and Histon & Impington Brook Win Girls Football Tournaments
On Friday 19th May the Hunts School Sports Partnership and South Cambs School Sports Partnership, in partnership with the English Schools Football Association, organised two football tournaments for girls in Year 3 and 4.
The tournaments looked to provide girls in Year 3 and 4 an opportunity to play matches against other schools that they wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to play, whilst more importantly giving all in attendance a positive experience of an inter-school competition.
Each tournament started by splitting the teams into two pools, using a round-robin format, before progressing onto placing matches against the equivalently placed schools from the other pool.
Morning Tournament
Following the pool stages, it was announced who each school would play in their final match.

Doug Finlayson, HSSP Partnership Manager and Secretary for the Cambridgeshire Schools FA said, “It is amazing to see so many different schools in attendance, we have over 200 Year 3 and 4 girls split across a morning and afternoon tournament. The event is also supported by Game On Girls Football Activators from Hinchingbrooke School, which has provided a positive link to the work that both myself and Claire McDonnell from South Cambs School Sports Partnership do as Barclays Girls Football School Partnership Strategic Leads.
I would also like to pass on a huge thank you to the ESFA for provided us with the opportunity to run this event and who have kindly provided a medal for every girl, which has helped to create more excitement!
We look forward to hopefully continue this event next year.”
