Key Steps 2 Gymnastics Competition

for Year 3 & 4

It has been a very busy week for Competitions which began on Tuesday 13th March 2018 with the Key Steps 2 Gymnastics.

Congratulations to all 20 teams which took part in the Gymnastics Competition which was held at the fantastic Huntingdon Gymnastics Club. It was great to see so many year 3 & 4 pupils taking part in the ‘A’ and ‘B’ team competitions. All the pupils who took part were very enthusiastic and represented their schools admirably.

The results were very close and the two schools with the top scores now qualify to represent Hunts SSP at the County Level 3 School Games Event on Thursday 22nd March 2018.

‘A’ Team Winners and Runners Up

Many congratulations to Godmanchester Community Academy who just pipped Crosshall Junior School to the post by 0.02 points! Both schools now go through to the Level 3 event. We wish them both the best of luck in the next round.

‘B’ Team Winners and Runners Up

It was great to see entries from the ‘B’ Teams, the winners were Godmanchester Community Academy and the runners up were Priory Junior School. Well done to both Schools.

All teams mentioned above (1st, 2nd & 3rd) received placing certificates and the winning schools (Godmanchester A and Godmanchester B) received the HuntsSSP Trophies.

Many thanks to the Huntingdon Gymnastics Club for supporting and hosting the event, the pupils had a great experience in such an impressive community club.

The Young Leaders from the Hunts SSP Leadership Academy supported the event and did a tremendous job of officiating.

YEAR 5 & 6

 Next up was the rearranged Level 2 Quicksticks Hockey Competition on Wednesday 14th March 2018. The weather seemed to hold out but it was quite chilly and windy!

Congratulations to all of the schools who took part in the ‘A ‘, ‘B’ and Festival competitions, the afternoon was full of fast paced play and lots of matches were very close. All teams demonstrated excellent skills during the matches, it was evident that teams had been practising for the event.

Young Hockey Leaders from the HuntsSSP Leadership Academy, Hinchingbrooke School and St. Ivo School undertook a leadership role officiating throughout the event and did a tremendous job in supporting the participating pupils.

Well done to all who took part and we would like to say a special thank you to the St. Ives Outdoor Center for the use of the facilities.
