Assessment in PE

Course Aims: Carol Gronow the Cambridgeshire Advisor for PE will be delivering this course. The course will look at assessment in PE and will provide support and guidance on assessment.
Delegates will identify the specific aspects of pupils and their progress in PE that they want to improve through effective assessment, recording and reporting of pupil progress and attainment, and identify what they need to do to improve these. Delegates will review assessment materials and strategies to ensure pupils are progressing in their achievement and attainment in PE.
This course is suitable for PLTs, Year 6 teachers and senior management team staff in primary schools. Please ensure that a representative from your school attends.

PLT Module A: Introduction to the Role of the Subject Leader

Course Aims: PLT A is an ‘Introduction to the role of the subject leader’ and will provide you with the key information that you need to undertake this role in school. The module will be delivered by Carol Gronow the County Advisor for PE.
The learning outcomes for the course are listed below:
Recognise why pupils should be at the centre of all development for the subject, the school and the partnership
Recognise how SSPs will contribute to the delivery of the PSA target and the National Framework for Change Every Child Matters and other national strategies and targets
Prepare for, and identify, their role and responsibilities in relation to their own school, their partner schools and the SSP and how this will develop their effectiveness as a PLT
Identify how existing and new audit and monitoring processes will contribute to subject, school and partnership self-evaluation and identify future actions through development plans
Identify local, regional and national structures of support and guidance.

TOP Dance

Course Aims: TOP-Up Dance is designed for primary teachers, to extend and develop the TOP Dance. programme used in their school. The TOP Dance programme will focus on the different dance styles.

PLT Module D: Planning the Pathway

Course Aims: Planning the Pathway: Curriculum and Out-of-School Hours Learning (OSHL) - This three hour course is for teachers in the primary sector who are new to the role of Primary Link Teacher or who previously missed these modules and wish to improve their knowledge and understanding of the role. this course will help to to improve planning for learning, including developing long, medium and short-term planning, evaluation of schemes of work and the importance of assessment.

TOP Play – KS1

Course Aims: TOP Play is a practical course aimed at any teacher, assistant or member of. school staff who wishes to develop the teaching and learning of core game skils for KS1 pupils.

PLT Module 2 – incorporates sections of PLT B, C and D

Course Aims: For PLTs new to the role from September 2008. To support you in your role as the Primary Link Teacher for your school there are a number of CPD modules that have been produced nationally. Previously these were referred to as A,B,C,D and E and we offered you the opportunity to attend one module per term, hence taking a period of 18 months to complete all of the elements of the CPD programme.
The modules covered the following subjects:
PLT A - Introduction to School Sport Partnerships and the role of the Primary Link Teacher
PLT B – The role of the subject leader in developing high quality PE and School Sport.
PLT C – Planning the pathway: curriculum and OSHL
PLT D – Planning for Learning
PLT E – Subject Leadership
These have now been amalgamated into 3 modules (1, 2 and 3) to help you to access the information in a more condensed period of time and they are delivered by Carol Gronow, the County Advisor for PE.

Fundamentals of Movement and Multiskills

Course Aims: The course is divided into two, the first part, Fundamentals of Movement will be in the morning and the second part, Multiskills will take place on the afternoon.
The course is suitable for QTS, TAs and AOTTS who are supporting you in the delivery of multiskills clubs in school. It will be delivered by Christine Sprowell from Sports Coach UK and will explore the concepts of Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed (A,B,Cs). The course will help to observe, analyse and develop good movement patterns within children aged 6 – 9 years. It will underpin the generic skills used in many sports: running, jumping, throwing, catching and striking and will provide the building blocks of the first phase of the long term athlete development (LTAD) model, which is intended to provide lifelong participation in sport. This is a practical course and you will require a PE kit on the day.
