C4L Handball Course

Course Aims: Open to Secondary Schools in Hunts SSP partnership. This course is for schools who are delivering Handball as their C4L activity but we would like to make it available to all secondary schools within Hunts. There is a charge for the course but Hunts SSP will support one adult place and up to 4 students from a Hunts School Sports Partnership school. Please do not miss out on this course, apply today. Quick Sticks Hockey Course
Tuesday 11th October 2011

Venue: Hinchingbrooke School Sports Hall
Provider: Hunts SSP
Course Aims: This is a practical course for KS2 teachers. Please wear a PE Kit. Quicksticks is a 4 a side introductory game of hockey. It can be played on any surface, and uses a larger, lighter and safer ball. Quicksticks is fast, safe and exciting and has been designed so that teachers with little or no hockey knowledge or background can deliver the game.
The two and a half hour course is an introduction to the game aimed at primary school teachers and community sports/club coaches. The course will include challenges and small sided games which are designed to help children to understand the tactical aspects of playing invasion games.

• to identify who the local key partners are for support/guidance
• to recognise characteristics of high quality PE and Sport and identify strategies to support staff/ pupils to achieve this.
• to outline the new School Games & its role in your school
• to evaluate and plan a high quality PE curriculum
• to explore methods of assessing and recording pupil progress.

Swimming - ASA National Curriculum Training Programme

Course Aims: Aims:
• to equip a qualified school teacher to teach a range of basic aquatic skills to learners at the non-swimmer/beginner and improver stage
• The course will involve both practical and theory sessions and will cover swimming strokes, use of practices & games, key underpinning skills & use of the TOPs swim cards.

Please bring a swimming costume if you would like to take part in the practical sessions.

Matalan Sport Promise

Course Aims: In partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, Matalan TOP Sport (part of Matalan Sporting Promise) supports PE and sport in primary schools. The new look Matalan TOP Sport resources have been designed to help teachers unlock the potential of all children in PE at Key Stage 2; developing of their thinking, physical and social skills, while enhancing their health and well-being.

Netball High 5 -Umpiring Course
Wednesday 9th November 2011

Venue: Comberton Village College, Sports Hall
Provider: Other
Course Aims: To increase knowledge of netball skills, fun practices and tactics. The course is practical so please wear practical clothing and bring a whistle and a pencil.

There is a charge of £25 for this course (50% discount for Level 2 members of Hunts SSP)
