Double the Fun as Panathlon Challenge Festivals Return
On Tuesday 17th January 2023 the Hunts School Sports Partnership’s inclusive multi-sports festival in partnership with Panathlon Challenge returned to One Leisure St Ives Indoor Centre. The events target young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities within mainstream and special schools and due to the popularity of the event in Huntingdonshire two events took place back to back for the first time since 2018!
The morning event saw over 60 KS2 children from 8 primary schools attend. The schools then proceeded to rotate around a series of sporting challenges, led ably by Sports Leaders from St Ivo Academy. At the end of each activity each school achieved a team score and were placed 1st to 8th before moving onto to the next challenge. At the end of the event a schools total score was calculated to determine their final event placing.
The afternoon event followed a similar format and welcomed 30 plus KS3 students from 3 secondary schools.
The results were:
Primary Event:
1st – Brampton Village Primary School
2nd – Hartford Junior School
3rd – The Round House Primary Academy
Secondary Event:
1st – St Peter’s School – White
2nd – Hinchingbrooke School
3rd – St Peter’s School – Purple
Congratulations to the top 2 placed schools in each event who will now have the opportunity to attend the County Panathlon Finals which are part of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough School Games Disability and Inclusion Festival, scheduled for Thursday 23rd March.
