‘Game Of Our Own’ GIRLS FOOTBALL ACTIVATORS TAKE OVER
‘Game Of Our Own’ GIRLS FOOTBALL ACTIVATORS TAKE OVER’
On Thursday 24 June 2021 eleven chosen year 8 & 9 leaders from Hinchingbrooke School took over PE Lessons for the day.
After a year of uncertainty, worry, being isolated from family, friends for long periods of time and also not taking part in any sports activities it was fantastic to be able to offer our girl leaders something to build their confidence with and get their imaginations buzzing.
Game Of Our Own, supported by Barclays is a programme that supports girls to be empowered to lead football-related activity for others. Girls take on the role of the Football Activator, where they choose to take on a delivery or a marketing role in their school to help deliver football.
The chosen eleven girls, Sophia, Franki, Rebecca, Erin, Grace, Iris, Zola, Lilly, April, Yasmin and Paris all from years 8 & 9 took on the challenge and attended only two workshops before taking over the full day of lessons.
They created their own fun and inclusive activities on the astro at Hinchingbrooke and taught years 7, 8 and 9’s. The students enjoyed the lesson takeover and found the experience of being taught by one of their peers refreshing.
The girls did so well and will continue their commitment to the Girls Football Activator role by taking lunchtime sessions on a Monday and Friday on the astro.
