Huntingdon Gymnastics Club opened up their amazing facilities for the Hunts School Sports Partnership’s Year 3 and 4 Key Steps Gymnastics competitions.
The popular competition welcomed Huntingdonshire schools to enter teams of 6 children that do not partake in gymnastics outside of school for more than two hours a week.
20 teams entered either the morning or afternoon session with the children competing on the vault and either a Floor or Body Management routine. The routines were executed well throughout both events which is a credit to the schools who have clearly spent a considerable amount of time preparing their children.
The Results:
A Team
1st – Ramsey Junior School
2nd – St Helen’s Primary School
3rd – Warboys Primary Academy
B Team
1st – Warboys Primary Academy
2nd – St Helen’s Primary School
Joint 3rd – Brampton Village Prinary School and Holywell CofE Primary School
The competitions were ably supported by a mixture of Year 7 to Year 10 sports leaders from Hinchingbrooke School who judged 252 routines between them.
Doug Finlayson, Hunts SSP Manager said, “Thank you to all schools that attended the 2022-23 gymnastics competitions. The sign up was fantastic which made for two exciting events. The standard of gymnastics was fantastic, the schools had clearly spend a considerable amount of time working with their children in preparation. Finally, I would like a pass on a huge thank you to Adam Scott and Huntingdon Gymnastics Club who have kindly opened up their facilities, trained the sports leaders and hosted but events today. We look forward to seeing you again next year!”
