Somersham Successfully Retain Bee Netball Title

Tuesday 21st March saw the first of two Hunts School Sports Partnership Year 5/6 Bee Netball competitions for Huntingdonshire primary schools. 100 children from 6 schools, making up 12 teams travelled to St Ivo Academy for an after-school competition. The teams were split into two groups, an A team and a B team category, with all teams playing 5 matches in a round robin format.

The adapted version of the game, with the school playing 5 v 5 instead of 7 v 7, resulted in fast paced, exciting play, plenty of goals and lots of tight matches!

Congratulations to Somersham and St Helen’s who as the top two placed schools will now have the opportunity to represent Huntingdonshire at the Cambridgeshire County finals on Wednesday 17th March.

Doug Finlayson, HSSP Partnership Manager said, “Thank you to all schools who attended and made for a fantastic event, it was amazing to see so many Year 5/6 children playing competitive Netball. Each school has clearly spent a considerable amount of time preparing the children, which was evident in the high standard of play. We now look forward to the Hinchingbrooke School Bee Netball competition which is taking place after Easter. I would like to wish Somersham and St Helen’s good luck at the county finals, I hope the children enjoy the experience.”
