Touch Down for Teachers at NFL Training

On Friday 4th November 2022, the Hunts School Sports Partnership hosted an NFL Flag Football staff training session for primary and secondary schools in Huntingdonshire.

The course was delivered by NFL UK and looked to upskill school staff with the non-contact version of American Football through their National Flag Football programme.

The day started off by introducing the teachers to the rule adaptations, with the opportunity to find out more about the format. Following this the teachers spent the majority of the course becoming the participants to learn the key skills needed to teach Flag Football to their students, such as;

1. The Snap

2. Quarter Back (QB) – Throw or Hand-Off

3. Receiving and Running with the Ball

4. Defending and Flag Taking

The course finished with the opportunity for the teachers to play a match against one another to further understand how the game flows, followed by each attendee delivering a short session focusing on one key aspect of the game to the rest of the group. As expected both games had a competitive edge and friendly rivalry!
