Year 5/6 Mixed Football Pokemon Cup Returns with a Bang!

The Hunts School Sports Partnership hosted it’s first Mixed Football event since 2019 with the return of the Year 5/6 English Schools Football Association (ESFA) Pokemon Cup tournament. The national pathway event proved to be extremely popular with Huntingdonshire Schools, with 21 teams and almost 200 children travelling to One Leisure St Ives Outdoor Centre on Tuesday 22nd November.

The teams were initially split into 6 pools, 4 for the A Team Competition and 2 for the B Team Competition, with each school playing all teams in their group to determine their group position and ultimately who they would face in the first round of placing games. There was some amazing football on show and plenty of close matches which resulted in the the group positions being tightly contested, and on multiple occasions coming down to goal difference and on one instance the flip of a coin.

As the light faded every school progressed to an additional two placing rounds to decide their final event position.
